Programs
Special Day Classes:
A Special Day Class (SDC) preschool serves a diverse group of young children with disabilities, ranging from mild developmental delays to significant cognitive challenges. These students typically require support across multiple areas, including communication (e.g., non-speaking, speech/language delays), behavior (e.g., aggression, tantrums, self-stimulatory), and adaptive skills (e.g., self-care, daily routines), within a highly structured and individualized learning environment.
DHH Classes:
Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) special day preschool classes primarily serve children with significant hearing loss who require a highly specialized environment to develop language and communication. These students need direct instruction in their primary communication mode (e.g., American Sign Language/ a total communication approach), access to DHH peers and fluent adult communication partners, and specialized supports like amplification systems or visual aids to facilitate their early learning and social-emotional development.
Small Group Instruction (SGI)/ Intensive Speech Class:
This class serves students who require intensive speech therapy. Speech therapy is integrated in a short day program 2 times a week with other peers who have similar needs. This class is taught by a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP). Students are placed in 1 of the 4 groups based on their speech needs.
